Frequently Asked Questions

How are academics personalized?

Students take an adaptive AI-based assessment in English, math, science, and social studies. Students are assigned content based upon the current mastery level in each subject. For example, a 6th grade student might be at a 9th grade reading level and a 5th grade math level. Topics not mastered from prior grade levels are assigned for students to complete to fill- in any academic gaps (remediation) and skips content already mastered (to reduce redundancy of content). When the student is ready, the student can move ahead (acceleration), and can move beyond content at their traditional grade level. For example, an 8th grade student can begin Algebra I or 9th grade English when ready.

What happens after my 8th grader graduates?

As each year passes, the school will continue to add the next grade level, so the student can continue learning at M.I.N.D. School House. The Spring 2027 8th graders will have the option to continue as a 9th grade freshman in 2027-2028 and be the first graduating class of May 2031.

Will student be provided social interaction?

The first 30-minutes of the day is scheduled for individual student meetings with our campus Educational Psychologist while socialization and educational based, learning games planned for the remaining students. Student to student instruction and small group learning is encouraged throughout the day.

Is there homework assigned?

If selecting a four-day a week program, all core academics are completed, with teacher guidance, during the 9:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m. morning slot. If the student would like to advance at a quicker rate, students are welcomed, but not required, to complete any core content outside of school hours. A two-day a week program will have core academic material available to complete outside of school hours. Elective course content is to be completed at home or within school hours once the day's core content is completed.
